Seeing "the light" - Mini Mac...
--{1 Transmission}--{2 Mini Mac}--{Knabber}-{Filterban}

Here is an interesting tether I thought I'd post.

[Knabber]

Neato!
I was checking out the Mac mini... I may sometime down the road buy one
of these... I have always liked certain aspects about Mac's and this
seems to be a great way to take the plunge. I would never supplant my
current PC systems entirely, but I would definitely take advantage of
the multi media Pros that Mac's offer - superior to PCs.
Anyways, I had a question for you... When I move, I plan on setting up a
WiFi router in my loft... Will I be able to use an airport card (as
shown on apple's site) in the Mini Mac, on the same WiFi network as my
PCs?
I am thinking of a topology that will include a PC desktop hard wired
into the router, my PC laptop from work wirelessly, and then finally,
the Mac Mini wirelessly.
Could that work with a typical Linksys WiFi router?
My guess is yes.

Yep, it will work. Airport is the same as 802.11b, Airport Extreme is 802.11g. In my apartment I have a Linksys wifi router and an Airport Express acting as a router between two wired networks.
The mini looks to be really sveet, too. I can't believe you're finally seeing the light. :)

Lol
I have never been like other PC and Mac fans out there that stick to one side and just bash the other "team."
Those kinds of people are usually ignorant and baseless in their facts. It’s clear to me that as I grow my empire, I will need to draw from various hardware and software sources.
"The light" bulb went on for me most recently when reading equipment specs for BT and other Techno artists saying that they use BOTH Mac and PC.
In addition, I have always considered Mac to be superior in Photoshop and audio type tools.
I could never justify buying a Mac because of the price points. Amazingly, Steve J. seems to always come up with the next insight as to how to go forward – he finally seems to have gotten "the light" by realizing that price was an important factor for a lot of us PC users.
I think that there will be little attrition from PC to Mac users in terms of making a complete switch. However, I think this is a great way to get people into a Mac, and will probably start seeing the multiple TV phenomenon, so aptly noted in the first episode of "back to the future," where Marty proclaims he has 3 TV’s in his household – whereby seconds after, the father and son state in disbelief anyone could have more than one TV.
My point being, more and more people will start to purchase multiple computing devices and place them althroughout their living space. I’m excited because I’d like to use my heavy hitting Alienware and server CPUs in my computer room, and use the more elegant and mobile alternatives like the Mini Mac and my laptop for my living room and bedroom.
Everyone knows you can never have too many computers scattered throughout one’s home!
Anyways, how is the computing power on this thing?
Will I be able to glean the benefits of Macs in terms of using it for techno, graphical, movie, music uses?
Maybe you can give me a comparison to what it my be equivalent to in PC terms.

later
